NGC 2899
Recently VLT captured Butterfly image, it is a massive bubble of gas, known as NGC 2899.
NGC 2899 located 3500 to 6500 light years away. It is a planetary nebula located in Vela constellation. It spans over 2 light years from the center which is more than 11.70 trillion miles.
(John Herschel)
It was discovered by John Herschel in 1835. NGC 2899 is hotter than Sun's surface where gases can reach temperature up to 10,000° C. NGC 2899 is believed to have two central stars.Which interferes with the flow of gas and gives NGC 2899 butterfly shape.
