What happened to Red planet? || Astronomy

Mars is the fourth planet from the Sun and the second smallest planet in the solar system. Being only larger then the Mercury planet. Mars has two moons Phobos, Deimos.

In English, Mars carries the name of Roman god of war and if often referred to as the "Red Planet".

Life on Mars
However, the surface of Mars is not suitable for Humans or everybody knows life forms due to the Radiation, reduced Air pressure, and an Atmosphere with only 0.16% Oxygen ...
Human survival on Mars would require living in Artificial Mars habitats with complex life support systems.

What happened to Red planet?

Mars was formed 4.5 billion years ago. It is located on the outer edge of the Habitable zone. Which means it is slightly to far from the Sun and receives very less amount of Sunlight.
About a billion years after its formation, Mars used to have a very thick atmosphere which used to trap the heat from sun and warm up its surface, just like Earth. (Blue planet) Mars had a Earth like warmer climate and water used to flow all over its surface.

But Mars didn't have a strong Magnetic field to protect against Solar Strom.
As a result, over the next billion years. Solar winds pushed away Mars's atmosphere. Without an atmosphere Mars became dry and colder. Today Mars's surface temperature is -70°C. Which is way too colder for Humans to Mars.

We have already found frozen water on Mars. In side a big crater, known as Korolev crater. Which can help future humans to colonies the Mars.
